Was warming up, decided to draw a character based on reference from a cosplayer, https://twitter.com/nyaaaaati/status/1422823490898464774?s=20 She's pretty cool, and you might wanna follow her for her art too.

Anyway, I don't use reference nearly as much as I should. But that's been changing ever since I added a little reading tablet stand to hover over my drawing tablet. It's easy for me to collect reference while I'm reading or browsing the web. so I'll just save it or keep the link for later. And with the little tablet stand, I can bring up reference at a touch. It's just physically easier than keeping it organized on the computer.

Using reference is good practice but I will also say, you don't need to use it for everything. The nice thing about using it a few times is that you can learn from drawing it once and then you'll have that reference in your repertoire for the rest of your life. And you can draw it again when you need it, or even iterate on it.
