In an alternate universe, IDW lets me write and draw an Adventure April O'Neil series based on her getting into trouble and getting out of jams and calling the Turtles to take out specific bad guys using information she gathered. And there's precedent in the franchise for that!

But I like to liken it to James Bond movies. And every single James Bond movie seems to equate James Bond being captured by the villain as the height of detective work. It seems to work out for him, since they always tell him everything just before they're gonna kill him! I don't think I'd go so dire, but I feel like there'd be  a willing market for 80's perilous adventure with an attractive lead.

I would buy the heck out of this comic... She looks super-cute here! :)

Reading the description makes me want that you'd do that kind of comic for real. I would immediately become a patreon. Despite April was used as a damsel-in-distress (which I admit is very appealing for me and many others out there), she was also a well-round and appealing character. Aside from being obviously really sexy in that yellow jumpsuit, she's smart, intelligent, brave and sarcastic. She's also prone to action and she's capable, but without the cliché of having the capable woman good at fighting. She also had a lot of useful skills, like driving as a badass, or driving motorcycles. And she's good at gathering informations. And she's good at using computers, which wasn't a very common skill in the '80s.

It would be fun but clearly I have no real licence to make an April comic on my own. And a larger the fan project gets, the riskier it becomes to make work out of it. Still I agree that a lot of what you said makes the idea appealing to have her ad a hero, solving problems without much fighting skill but cleverness and guts. Getting caught though, makes for a potentially super fun book!

I'd be delighted if you did an April Adventure comic in the style and tone you descibed, if only to see your style applied to various other characters in the TMNT lore. Archie Comics published 6 April O'neil issues in the 90s. But your Bond-esque idea would be something different and fun!
