I got into talking with my friend, Punchyninja, about his work in concept art for video games. And I think like... that must be a pretty exciting career. But I'm not sure it's totally for me. Concept art is a lot of problem solving and developing lots of possible solutions. You have to also be ready to throw out a lot of what you do, because the people at the top have their own ideas of what works and what doesn't. And sometimes, if you're unlucky, your most boring work is what will be picked.

I think of my job as part... performance. Between the social media presence, the daily patreon blog, and streaming of art work, what I do is about providing consistent entertainment. And more than developing something, I have to put out content that satisfies people looking for a kind of art, and also reminds my followers I'm alive. It's kinda complicated but I see more and more artists take it up as a way to get supplementary income.

Maybe someday in the future I can get into the concept art game. The issue is I might actually be too old! Concept art people love getting fresh faced kids just out of school to be bent to their will! I'm JUST old enough to get curmudgeonly if I need to cover up Colette's top.
