Goldilocks and Jackhammer (Patreon)

Their ship name is probably GoldiHammer. I like drawing these two a lot and Satellite9 seems to be happie whenever I draw Jackhammer. They're not NECESSARILY a ship. Though I do have a tendency to draw a lot of girls that kiss girls and cute superheroes, so I wouldn't COMPLAIN if they were in a relationship of some sort. But I didn't really create Goldie to do that. I just happened to come up with a superhero-ish character at a similar time that Satellite9 was creating one.
I had Goldie's power before, simply being that she can transform into metal like Colossus. But then I wondered how better to make her power more complimentary. I didn't see her as getting super strong, but she would be super resilient. So I was thinking... wouldn't it be cool if she could just launch herself at an enemy. And then I leaned into having her transform into solid objects to help as a weapon. And I'm like... yep. That would be a lot of fun to combine with a super strong buff character.
It's a very passive superhero trait, so I had to think about what that means for her role in stories or her as a person. I imagine that... the way her super power works, it is limited. Even when she was just transforming into a metal person, I saw it as a defensive power. I could come up with cool things with the properties of metal but those are all very situational. And I think, as a person, it would be frustrating for Goldie who would love to be a credit to the team but can't find a job to do.
Enter Jackhammer who could use some pointers herself, to become a better superhero. The two of them make a pretty ready team. While Goldie's role is mostly passive and supportive, I think there's a real possibility to have a main character that's NOT the center of attention herself during adventures.
I mean... I think support roles in multiplayer games are cool. Why not in fiction?
Oh hey, it will be another Saturday by the time this post goes up. Thanks for being patrons. See you guys next week!
