Principia is a character I haven't talked about a lot yet but I think, aside from Julie, I currently imagine her as the other beating heart of the series. I've used this analogy that Julie is like the Green Ranger and shows up a little late, seemingly running against the main heroes. Principia would be the hero of that other show, who's responsible for bringing together a disparate group so she can help save the world. Her power, gravity manipulation was a not so subtle nod that her story seemed to revolve around her.

I've been thinking about how to handle her character and probably the oldest note about her character from her original appearances was that she had to seem too perfect. Like, almost annoyingly so. She'd be helpful and understanding, but that ran the risk of either her or Julie being unlikable if they were at odds with one another for hard to understand reasons.

But, not exactly in response to that storytelling problem, I had started thinking of Principia as someone with her own real set of problems. And I'm thinking of exploring some really intricate and challenging things about her mindset. I think she's depressed in a different way than Julie is depressed. Principia has a lot of weight on her shoulders, that is something I think she takes to surprisingly well. It's why people would like her, she's very tough and kind and generous.

But she has insecurities because her head is wired a little differently. I want to be sensitive about how this comes across, but she's different when it comes to social cues. Things that are easy to understand for some people, might be confusing to her. Or she reads things differently. I think a subtle illustration of that might be... she laughs at a joke only she sees.

Oof that's close to home. I really hope this concept gets fleshed out because it's pretty awesome. Side question: how are you planning on differentiating Principia from say, Terra from Teen Titans? (Gravity, depressed, kind of alienated, and trying to find herself)
