There's a high res in the dropbox, the link to which hasn't been updated for this month yet. So last month's link still works.

Anyway, this was just me experimenting with a different way to render. And I thought this was a good way to handle a more "matte" looking leather than the shiny latex stuff I usually draw. The effect is rather beautiful if a little more time consuming.

I had a lengthy conversation over twitter (the best place to have long conversations) about how much time is worth spending on comic pages. And some of that applies to illustrations like this. The gist of it was, you probably should favor more efficient ways to get your story across rather than slavishly rendering details, at least when it comes to comics.

However, when it comes to illustrations, the quality of experience comes partially from the details. BDSM folks are particular about the way the gear is rendered. And I think special attention could be spent towards learning how to render the different materials and fabrics used.

That expression is pretty darn great, and you're spot on about gear. It's the little details that can really define a material or how something is constructed to make it feel like it's own element that affects something, rather than something just "painted" on.

Looks more like leather or unshined latex
