Before I was out doing Question Duck or even cute comics for /co/, I had a bit of a time doing some rather creepy stuff. I never really went out full "horror" comic but I tried to have creature design that was unsettling while being clearly fantastical. For Pretty Julie, I knew I wanted to draw from that well of horror stuff and while lore building I've been taken with the idea of "Old Ones" and all that jazz. But I don't think I wanted to express it in the more obvious designs of like... victorian steampunk cthulu type things. It was my first thought to go in that direction, and it yielded some neat stuff. I haven't done much visual world building in a while, too busy with commissions and comic work (and goofing off) but I think just sitting down for half an evening and trying to figure out something I got something kinda cool. Taking the aesthetic of "glitches" or "databending" the kinds of things you see when jpgs or character models get improperly rendered and turning them into living breathing mutations has yielded some interesting results. Those results being, people in the stream felt sufficiently uncomfortable and creeped out by the designs. So I could be onto something here. PS. It's a new month, thank you guys for sticking around. New high res art link will show up soon!

I've always been a fan of that Lovecraft style of horror. Victorian steampunk Cthulhu sounds pretty cool. I would love to see what you came up with sometime.
