I kinda like how this one came out.

I really like textured brushes and getting the feel of an artist through seeing their brushes in their work. There's absolutely beauty in perfectly clean and super well modeled work. But there's a beauty to seeing imperfections too. There's beauty in a lot of things.

So I have some thoughts, cause I've spent the weekend thinking a lot. Some of it good, some of it completely useless circular thinking that gets me into a weird place. True facts, it was actually my birthday last week. And that always gets me in a bad mood.

I don't like getting older. I don't like people making a big deal about it. If I had my way, I could just ignore it. But I can't really ignore it. Takes up too much of my headspace. I'l just try not to have to write about it too much.

This is gorgeous. This is not a cartoon. It is “real art.” I put “real art” in quotes because art encompasses a big field. Cartoons have artistic value. This sketch — the eyes are just amazing. It just knocked me out when i saw it. As for birthdays — there is a lyric in an old Bob Dylan song: “But I was so much older then. I’m younger than that now.”

Love it, Psu! Reminds me of challenges from my teachers in school to do monochrome works and examine playing with the shades. The hot white on the left and the cold blue on the right creeping into her hair is a fun contrast. Also for some reason it makes me think of Strongsad from Homestar Runner talking about Chiaroscuro in the Trogdor e-mail episode.

I learned half of my art skills from art school lessons like the monochrome palette knife painting. And the other half from Homestarrunner Cartoons :)
