This is just a rough layout sketch for an illustration I wanted to do for my personal game of the year.

Unrelated to that, I spent a lot of time today thinking and discussing the new Patreon scheme. So far it looks like from the poll, technically I won't be negatively affected in any large way. The staggered payments will be massively confusing though.

BUT... and this is a big issue for me... it seems very much YOU guys will be. I hate that you're getting charged more for the same service, and that as a greater percentage effected the small donors are being gouged. Unless Patreon reverses course, I will be more open to alternatives in the future.

I'll keep you guys posted. For now though, art will continue as they have been.

I have read about Patreon’s new financial scheme from several sources. As best I can determine it comes down to this: for every dollar given 95 cents goes to the creator and 5 cents to Patreon. There is a residual of transaction fees. These are the fees charged by credit card companies and PayPal to process the transactions. Patreon is now asking us, the contributors, to pay these fees. The fees are incurred by the payment method we choose. I think it is fair that we pay for the transactions. I don’t have any problem with the new scheme. It is regrettable some creators and patrons are confused and uncomfortable. Anyway, thank you for your art. We want more in the future.

I don't know why they can't take one payment from us, with a single transaction fee, then transfer a single payment to you... with a single transaction fee. This whole scheme may not be patreon cash grab, but it's certainly helping the credit card companies at the expense of the patrons and any creators who take a hit.

This! The problem isnt who pays the fees but that patreon set it up in the least palatable way for the end user
