She'll be alright, she's a cyborg. And she's still gonna win this fight.

Gally gets broken up a lot in Battle Angel Alita. I'd be lying if I didn't say that was one of the cooler aspects of the series. You usually don't see heroes lose in their comics, let alone get destroyed. But the concept for Battle Angel made it a regular occurrence. And nothing is quite as cool as struggling when you've been partially destroyed, and still winning in the end.

That said it's a manga that plays very gleefully with violence. Plenty of modern manga these days are much more so. There's no doubt that, for all its musings on violence being bad, loads of manga are really good at showing violent stuff. Battle Angel's world is riddled with death that seems to come easy. It adds to the series' writing potency, and even major characters always feel at risk.

Still, you can always just check out the manga for it's cool cyborgs and robot designs.
