I had in my mind, I was gonna see how fast I could put this drawing together if I painted the basic layout first and then drew in the figure as I saw them in the pattern. There are a lot of people who work this way. I usually don't.

But I think I can see the appeal. Even in this rough form, I can start picturing what the lighting and the overall feel is like. I shouldn't have tried added these lines on top of it, at least not yet. I think I immediately grew frustrated and stopped working on this within 20 or so minutes. (ironically enough, it was supposed to be a cyborg girl in the middle of getting some new upgrades and stuff, but it looks like she's just reading a book.)

Looking at it now, after giving it some time, I think I can totally see the appeal of working in a process like this. At the very least roughing things out with color instead of shapes and figures. The worry is that I'll get too far in and then find out the anatomy or perspective is all wrong. So I can't work too hard in the painting stage without revisiting the layout or outlines or anatomy sketches.

Maybe if I worked on both processes and switched back and forth between them as the drawing progresses...
