Cliff the Paladin (Patreon)

character illustration for a friend of his PC, an Earth Genasi Paladin named Cliff! He thought that name was clever, and I agree. This guy actually took a lot of work... fantasy armor sure looks cool and pretty, but it isn't one of my favorite things to draw, and this guy is in a full set of mithril plate. It was a fun challenge though-- and can use every opportunity to practice coloring metal.

The commissioner asked for a simpler coloring style, so I tried to make myself stick to that by restricting everything to only a few layers. I think I still did get carried away painting his face; I think I got lost in the novelty of drawing a craggy, grouchy, middle-aged human-looking dude for once.
