missionary nuns are closer to people, they use shorter sword and buckler for self defense. even the Ordo Mediare sisters renown spreads around, sometimes they still could be in some tough situation.

Great artwork, I can see the inspiration from 14th century manuals! (Buckler could make a fine plate for pastries too!)

A few layers of good, tough linen, maybe even an arming jack, a bucker and short sword? They're pretty solidly geared for a fight. Talk to any good HEMA instructor and they'd be perfectly happy to fight with that. Perfectly happy to wreck some shit, too. Such accountrements were pretty much the day to day wear of Knights and members of militant orders.
