Sal is so pretty on this page. Poor guy is feeling very all over the place right now, even if he says he's not more shaken up.

Lovely sitting pose in panel two! I wonder if Sal just had reached a point where he expected every interpersonal connection to end eventually, so he gave up on them before they even began. By the time he fell out with the others, he had long since checked out emotionally. But it's not that easy with Battam. With Battam, it's not about settling back and seeing how long it'll work. Instead, he actively wants it to last. That requires such a different set of skills and raises the stakes so much! And the worst part is probably that all the times he was left before, it felt like it was an inevitable thing ultimately out of his control. And it was replaceable. But this... this relationship does in part depend on his actions, and he feels that. And it feels unique. There is no starting over elsewhere this time.

That is all to say, YES YES GOD Sal is so not used to things that stick around, especially sexual/romantic relationships and he is gonna go through SOME THINGS in the story still (Battam too!)
