It just is so meaningful how much respect there is in this almost touch. I read it as "I want to comfort you, return security to you, and I am used to using physical intimacy to make others feel better. But it just occured to me that this might not be what you need right now. And I'm not sure, IF you need physical intimacy, that I am currently in a position to give it to you for complex reasons. So a little distance it is. But I'll open myself up to you. I'll show you trust." And that's something I feel in many of their interactions. This careful, gently feeling out of boundaries, this deep respect for each other, and firm faith in the respective other. I love it so much about them!
