Patreon Tax Update Reminder Number 2 (Patreon)

Hey all!

So, as some of you may or may not have heard, Patreon is beginning to apply taxes to people's pledges in accordance with the law of everyone's country, state, etc.

They've made some back end changes that are frankly confusing and I suspect almost everyone with a Patreon page is gonna have some growing pains here soon when July 1st rolls in and these changes go into action.

I suspect a bunch of the rewards I give out will NOT be taxed, like the $1, $3, and $5 tiers, but I do suspect any pledge amount above that will be taxed according to state law if you're within the USA. I think a lot of states still don't tax digital goods, so?

I believe most pledges have less than $1 or so in taxes, but again, Patreon has not be very clear with creators on how we should warn our Patrons of this upcoming change? So I have no idea how to warn you all except for you to check out your local tax laws?

Forgive me for being the bearer of bad news, especially during a time where paying taxes feels fucking awful because that money isn't funneled correctly, but I could not just let this change roll out without letting you all know.

I hope you're hanging in there the best you can! I am going to work hard today to try and make good progress on the Solanaceae Epilogue, Update 4 and hopefully get that out before the end of the month if I can.
