Solanaceae: A Visual Novel – Third/Fourth day of dev! (Patreon)

Last of the game-dev-diaries from the old Tumblr-Patreon-only blog. Feels weird that these are out of order from the posts here but eh, I felt my thoughts were worth saving.

Phew!  So yesterday I never made my game dev dairy entry because I was having a  wild day and only really had time to finish Battam’s bust but then  today I JUST, I BUSTED OUT THE REST OF THE ART AND SOME FIXES AND HGGN– NOW THE BUILD IS SO CLOSE.

WHAT I GOT DONE THIS SESSION:

• Battam’s Sprite
• Fixed issues with everyone’s sprites (eye problems, added mouths, general fixes, etc)
• Interior house background
• Exterior house background
• About/Credits section
• Sprited/Busted a few scenes
• Textbox, ask box, quit box, arrows, some general GUI.
• Game icon
• Sal and Satine sitting sprite
  

Just  had a weird day yesterday, and some weird stuff happened today to but  for now it’s like ??? where it’s gonna go so, let’s home tomorrow that  my regular errands stuff will go fine and be fast and I can get some  rest.

THINGS TO GET DONE BEFORE THIS BUILD IS READY TO SHARE WITH PATRONS:

• Bust/sprite the last 3 scenes
• Beta-test/spell-check/general look over
• THEN IT’S ALL YOURS, BABIES.
  

Generally I’m very happy with this first build and I think it shows off the potential that the game has going into the future. Not everything is rock solid right now, but everything right now is AT LEAST passable.

Lots of stuff like general GUI, interface, and how the game “feels to play”  will be tweaked and improved as stuff goes along– but for this first  update everything just needs to function. The great thing about having a  game that updates in chapters with the eventually goal being a super  long product that is polished is that I can kind of take my time DOING  that polishing while I focus on the big picture stuff instead of small  details.

I think ya’ll are going to be really impressed with how  this game looks and it’s already taught me a lot about what I want to do  with the first chapter of Lee’s game as well as Nami and I’s upcoming  game.

And with that, I sleep. 💤
