Seasons greetings! I hope you had an amazing holiday! I had a nice time visiting family and spending some quality time ☺️ It was nice to have this to work on to give myself a little break from talking to everyone haha.

I had SO MUCH FUN working on this!

This was inspired by the Edwardian, European greeting cards. I had so much fun reading about the history and symbolism! No matter the gender of Krampus, these greeting cards usually depicted a basket or bag which krampus would use to haul bad men to hell and holding a bunch of birch branches (Rute) or a whip for punishing. They have goats legs and horns and either black or brown fur/hair.

What I found most interesting is that Krampus is usually bound by chains, symbolizing servitude to the Christian church. As some of you know, my reason for starting this project was to undo harmful puritanical ideologies responsible for suppressing my sexuality and creativity. So, church chains weren’t going to work for me haha. I decided to give her a chatelaine, which is a type of keychain, historically worn by women in positions of power. I love the concept of a chatelaine because, before women started to take roles like head of household, they were meant to be as quiet as possible. The keys and tools would jingle and jangle when she entered a room, asserting her presence and allowing her to take up space in a way women were never allowed before. I gave our female Krampus an ouroboros chatelaine to unlock whatever realm or ideas she pleases. In my depiction, the chains are a part of her self expression as a fashion detail, rather than bindings. Bindings are only fun when they’re consensual. Haha! Luckily, our friend here has already established a safe word with Lady Krampus. However, he might have to spit out the cookies if things get a little too intense ;)

The process video is attached below!

I hope you found time to partake what pleasures the holiday has to offer! I’m looking forward to sharing so much with you this year! Cheers to a year of endless pleasure and creativity! 🖤
