Why can’t she have both? I hope we get a poly romance as spicy as “wicked Beauty” in the Dark Olympus series. I’m excited for a book about Elaine if we get one, because her story so far really resonates with me.

I think most women have experienced this in their lives, having to be the good girl, paralyzed under the fear of being disagreeable, unable to allow yourself to follow the Wild Woman’s call to explore the animalistic, intuitive self. Just be cute and pretty and marry well, shut up and be happy all the time. It’s so much easier to be this hollow mask of a woman because to dig deeper is to uncover truths you cannot burry again. The more you dig, the more you explore your deepest desires and beliefs and the harder it is to keep your mouth shut and be the perfect doll everyone wants you to be. You start making waves because you aren’t what society wants, you aren’t as easily controlled. You become too complicated, wild and chaotic. Too powerful and immovable. Society doesn’t like a woman who is unpredictable. It terrifies them.

Elain, I believe, is so so much deeper than she has allowed herself to be. She was groomed by her mother to be the woman we have known so far, meek, fragile, aloof. The perfect high society wife. If Fayre and Nesta are full of fire and power, I believe Elaine has the terrifying but beautiful soul of the Skeleton Woman, or La Loba. She who tends her garden and is life and death. I think these boys will end up being the catalyst that opens her to explore the parts of herself she has locked away and I am HERE FOR IT.

Lets go Elaine! Turn that key and open the flood gates of desire and the authentic self!

I’m excited to color this one! I’m thinking a sunrise palette of warm golden, sun kissed meadows and Azriel lurking in the shadow of the tree. The juxtaposition of light illustrating the duality of the soul. I think Azriel needs a little of Lucien’s light too because he is also broken. THEY CAN ALL FIX EACHOTHER.
