What really irks me about the R&R storyline in these episodes is that I cannot for a second believe that Rachel would think they could get a divorce or annulment without her having to sign anything. She’s oftentimes portrayed as a bit ditzy, but she’s definitely not stupid, but in order for this joke/plotline to work she has to be. The second episode also has the dumbest name of the entire show IMHO. The titles are supposed to help you recall which episode is which, but ”TOW Ross Hugs Rachel”? I mean, in how many episodes does he hug her? It’s not identifiable at all, literally any other title would have been better. Why not call it ”TOW Ross Doesn’t Get the Annulment”, or something like that? Anyways, it’s really interesting to see Chandler and Monica written as a healthy, stabile couple in contrast to all the R&R drama. The moment in the first episode where Monica leaps into Chandler’s arms shouting ”YES” over and over is just adorable.
