Love this movie! As other people have mentioned, it’s a remake of the 1961 film of the same name, starring Hayley Mills. Though what isn’t often mentioned is that the story actually originated as a German novel published in 1949, called Das doppelte Lottchen (known as Lisa and Lottie in the English translation), which was set in Munich, Germany and Vienna, Austria… I actually read the novel when I was a kid (my mum had an old copy), years before the Lindsay Lohan version was made. I have to say though, I do find it hard to believe that Annie had never heard of Leo DiCaprio… he was one of the biggest teen heartthrobs in the UK at the time, as we were in the middle of all the Romeo+Juliet and Titanic hype (I saw R+J three times in the cinema in 1997, and when Titanic came out in Jan 1998, half my school class was in the same cinema showing!).

Loving these 90's/2000's movie reactions, Nick!! I just watched your reaction to Freaky Friday and am about halfway through the Parent Trap. But I had to pause and comment before I forget, because the scene with Annie's mom where she has the rollers in her hair and she's freaking out about seeing Hallie's dad always cracks me up. There's a meme that pops up in my Facebook memories every year, of her standing in the doorway to the closet, with the rollers in her hair, and the sun glasses, and the cigarette in her hand, and the caption says "Current Stress Level: Elizabeth James finding out that she's going to be seeing Nick Parker for the first time in 11 years". And it kills me every time, because I think we can all relate to that level of stress--even if it's not in such an unconventional way. 🤣😂 But this movie will always have a soft spot in my heart. My parents divorced when I was a baby, so I was always bouncing between the two homes. My dad was a serial dater and I remember there was one lady that he was actually going to marry, when I was 6 years old or so. Her name was Beth. She was LITERALLY the same exact way as Nick's fiance, in this movie. Super sweet to me in front of him, but mean to me when we were alone. Always reminding me that he was hers and that I needed to accept it. She wouldn't let me watch Buffy (which, was my favorite show as a kid!!!!) or even Harry Potter. I hated her for that alone. Then the day before the wedding, her family had come to town for the rehearsal dinner and me and her daughter were arguing over a toy in my room. I think I took the toy from her and she started crying, Beth came into my room and scolded me. But she decided to take it a step further, and actually pinched the palm of my hand as hard as she could, to teach me a lesson. Of course I told me dad, and he called the wedding off that same day. My dad and I have had our issues over the years, and we unfortunately don't speak anymore. But I will always be grateful that in that moment, he chose me over her. Because there were a lot of times where he prioritized women over his son. Anyway... that was a whole story. But at that time in my life was when I saw this movie for the first time, and I just remember loving it so much, because I totally related to having an (almost) evil step mother, and wishing that I had a twin that I could switch places with to get my parents back together.

I still don't know which one I like better the original with Hailey Mills or this one.. They're both so fun. Although the Butler and housekeepers in this one are great. Also "Aunt Vickie" is the woman that actually played the role of Vickie in the original one, who was the woman that was going to marry the dad. And Natasha Richardson was great. Sad she passed away. She was married to Liam Neeson.

I started to look into your older reactions (like “The Parent Trap”), and while your image is crystal clear, the movie is not. It’s actually very blurry and has no sound. Any ideas?
