The movie is a modernization of William Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. The scene in which Kat reads the poem was the first and only take. Kat's tears towards the end of the poem were real and not planned. Heath Ledger improvised the moment where Patrick starts playing with the fire. Kat and Bianca's dad refers to the TV show Dawson's Creek by calling it Dawson's River. Heath Ledger dated Michelle Williams, who was one of the main actors on the show, after they starred together in Brokeback Mountain. She is also the mother of his only child. Also, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt briefly dated during filming of this movie. Btw you guys are so cute!

Yeah, I've read a few excerpts from the play (high school work) but I know the basic story and I really like the angle and tone of this adaption. And that was a first take?! Wow that's impressive, that's gotta be my favorite behind-the-scenes fact I've heard so far about this movie. Great acting! I haven't seen anything about Dawson's Creek, but that's a cool connection with Michelle Williams (great actress) I knew that she and Heath Ledger were together for awhile. And thank you!!

The bloopers at the beginning are so much fun!!! Love the movie <3 The cast is really good and it's fun to watch so many "stars" at their beginning. And both of you are so sweet together! I'm really enjoying this kind of reaction too :))

Thanks so much, they are so much fun to do! And I agree it's awesome seeing these well-known actors with baby faces in high school, adds an extra layer of fun to an already great comedy
