Bethany was a complex, intriguing, and extremely powerful new character this episode... although hands down Cordy was the MVP this episode..

I've said it before and will say it again. Although there is no question that I adore Cordelia, Charles Gunn is hands-down one of my favorite character of this series. I think the actor is fantastic, and the character he has developed with the writers is charismatic and interesting. If I recall correctly, Mr. Bill was an adult cartoon character from the (early?) '90s who got flattened or something? I watched part of an episode long ago and quickly tuned it out, TBH. Not my thing, LOL. A quick observation about Cordelia. Do you all remember way back in Buffy Season 3, SlayerFest '98 episode, when Cordelia said to Buffy, "I don't WANT your life!" Fast-forward to now, and here she is, fighting evil the best she can while trying to stay emotionally strong for everyone else. Minus the Slayer powers, she is sort of living Buffy's life. I wish the writers had thought to reference that by now, LOL.

Gunn is an awesome fresh addition to the official Angel crew, he totally has that charisma like you said. I also like how so much of who he is comes from a place of struggle and sacrifice, he really never had the luxury to be immature. I'd honestly forgotten about that line from Cordy in Season 3. I'd say Buffy still leans more towards leadership at this point, but it's true that Cordy's career is essential identical. I imagine that largely due to her friendship with Angel and Wesley, not to mention how she's really grown up since high school living on her own. Even if they don't reference that specific line (which would've been really cool), I'm hoping there's going to be a moment where Cordy reflects on how different she is compared to her old self, or perhaps if she runs into Buffy the Slayer can say it for her

Mr Bill was a claymation character on SNL in the late ‘70s. The running joke was that he was continually smooshed and tormented by “Mr Hands.”
