This movie surprised me!  I love the commentary on food/ consumption, and the last act really came together for a hilarious and memorable sequence!

Another wonderful surprise! This must be my lucky week! :) Even though this isn't my favourite animation, I do remember being kinda young when I saw this and I loved it. It came on quite often on TV growing up so I don't think it bombed at the box office (could be wrong?) Anyway, rewatching this as an adult made me appreciate it so much more because I think it feels more grounded than a lot of animation today. You mentioned the depth of the characters and I agree! There was some real heart and sincerity especially that part when the gang created that set up for RJ and invited him into the family. Also regarding the squirrel slow mo sequence, yes, this came out in 2006 so it was definitely before X-men and Megamind (where they used that effect as well). This film was so ahead of it's time and so inventive! I will say, if this film’s intention was to demonise junk food, it had the opposite effect on me. I was thinking about getting Pringles the whole time haha. PS: Thor, are those girl scout cookies really as yummy as they look in the movies? I’ve been dying to know 😅

I'm sad to hear this one didn't perform well, cause it really surprised me with the quality but I guess that's just the nature of the movie business, quality doesn't always equal financial success. And that's cool the slow mo predated the iconic Quicksilver scene, it would be hilarious if the director was actually inspired by this movie haha. Pringles are an underrated chip imo, and as far as girl scout cookies... it's been ages since I've had them but from what I remember, you'll be happy to try them, just don't overhype it, there's weed in them or anything ;)
