Pure, focused, innovative, action cinema.  Lots of great quotes, and Arnold is perfect for the lead here.  Also, the sound of the Predator alone deserves an award.

I probably won’t get to this for a while but I’m looking forward to watching it. “Predator” holds a special place in my heart, and I’d count it among the five most impactful movie watching experiences of my life, because it’s the first R-rated movie I ever saw. And it opened the floodgates for a ton of (not always good) action films. The idea to later combine the “Alien” and “Predator” universes was pretty inspired - without commenting on the quality of those films or comics or any other medium. Obviously both franchises feature the general concept of a small team vs. an alien (or aliens), but what I love about “Predator” is that it’s almost the inverse of the first two “Alien” films genre-wise. “Alien” is primarily a horror film with Ripley as the final girl and while “Aliens” does continue to expand on that horror it mostly shifts the story into the action realm. Meanwhile “Predator” starts out as the ultimate action movie with men with big muscles carrying even bigger guns, but then becomes a horror film where the Predator is Jason or Michael Myers (he even wears a mask for most of it) and Arnold is the final girl. It’s such a cool concept and a very well made film.
