Originally, Average Joe’s lost to Globo Gym in the final match with Peter losing both his $100k bet and the gym. This is what Stiller is eluding to in the end-scene when he says there is no originality in American cinema and that movies must have happy endings to be enjoyable. The studio MADE the actors come back and film a new ending, the one we saw.

This movie is hilarious, I’m so glad you two reacted to it! Also, Ben Stiller was in that very funny episode of Friends. He played Rachel’s date. But, his wife played Kate Veatch in this movie…AND on Friends she played Ross’ girlfriend at the beach house, the one who Rachel “balded.”
