Which is better, the first or the second Harry Potter? But the point that is not up for discussion is the fact that Gilderoy Lockhart is the best character so far...

The 1st is better than the 2nd in my opinion. However, each movie continues to get better and better from the 3rd to the 8th. Each movie gets exponentially darker than the last. I love Harry Potter, and I'm so excited to watch you take this journey!

Raven Dark

Yes! Here we go! Also, Gilderoy Lockhart, is he right up there with Principle Snyder? Heehee!

Raven Dark

Also, also, Nick, you are so mean. LOL First movie, you were trying to convince Wyn that Harry Potter is real, and in the second, you're teasing her about the name. Savage. You two are so great together. Back to our regular scheduled program...

Liam

OH I AM SO EXCITED

Raven Dark

Finally finished the whole reaction. What a great job, you two. This was awesome. I have to say, you guys thought THIS was dark? Oh boy. This is gonna be fun. I can't wait to watch the reaction for Prisoner of Azkaban!

I was soo glad to see this reaction I was worried we weren't getting anymore harry after the first! Does that mean I can hope for more Avatar the last air bender original version lol? Haha I loved seeing you guys react to it. It was sooo fun! But also! He heard the Basilisk in the tunnels. Which is why he could only hear it and understand it.

Jessie

I just joined, so excited to see this reaction! :)

So happy to see you guys get this up! It's clearly been an absolute saga just to these movies YT approved. Congrats for battling through! 💜

I want to be respectful, and confirm that the correct spelling is "Wyn". Someone, please help 🙏 She is so adorable, and I love that she and Nick bring so much happiness to every upload. It REALLY does feel like watching these movies with friends I've known forever. Y'all are so adorable and it's obvious you're incredible people, period!

Second, for those of us who read the books first, like the super nerdy friends we've trained to be... the names were a bit tricky, at least for me!?? 🤷‍♂️ I literally pronounced Draco's father's name as Luscious Malfoy. Not Lucius. 🤣🤦‍♂️ My young gay brain thought, he must be super fabulous and evil. You can imagine my face and how hard I laughed the first time they said it in the movie. That said, his hair is pretty friggin luscious, so I wasn't totally wrong 🤪

I like both films but I prefer this one because it's more exciting and we get to know the characters a lot more. In case you don't know, this is the extended version. It involves deleted scenes Lucius and Draco in Burgin & Burkes in Knockturn Alley (Jason Isaacs accidentally injured Tom Felton with the cane), the students taking a quiz about Lockhart, Harry overhearing some students in the library debating whether he is the Heir of Slytherin, Justin introducing himself to Harry in the Dueling Club, Crabbe and Goyle waking up and running into Harry and Ron, and more. Fun facts/answers to some of your questions: Before Christian Coulson was cast as Tom Riddle, Eddie Redmayne, who later played Newt Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts films (a prequel/spin-off to Harry Potter), auditioned for the role. Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) originally auditioned for Lockhart. Shirley Henderson who plays Moaning Myrtle was 36 in this film. Tom Felton improvised Draco's "I didn't know you could read" to Harry disguised as Goyle because he forgot his line. Furthermore, Lucius' and Harry's exchange just before Lucius leaves Dumbledore's office was completely improvised by the actors on the spot. Jason Isaacs said "Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day" and Daniel Radcliffe immediately replied "Don't worry, I will be". Lucius starts to use the Killing Curse "Avada Kedavra" on Harry after leaving Dumbledore's office. To actually try to kill a child in the middle of a school makes him seem quite dumb. But Jason Isaacs explained that the book didn't mention any specific spell and this was the only one he could remember. Also, unrelated but Jason is the voice of the basilisk, which is the voice Harry hears. I think there are two main reasons why Harry doesn't tell Dumbledore or one of the teachers about the voice he hears. 1. He already feels like a 'freak' so he doesn't want more attention on himself by being the person who can hear voices no one else can. 2. Growing up at the Dursleys, Harry has a hard time putting much trust into adults. Plus, the teachers couldn't protect him during his first year and when they tried to tell McGonagall about the stone she didn't listen. It's almost universally agreed upon that the films did Ron dirty. One of the most notable ways was how most of his best lines were given to Hermione. One notable example of this is when Hermione is the one to explain what "Mudblood" means instead of Ron. In the book, Ron is also the one who points out how ridiculous the whole idea of wizarding blood supremacy is (instead of Hagrid). In the book it's revealed that Filch is actually a Squib, which is a non-magical person who is born with at least one magical parent (kind of the opposite of a Muggleborn). Hogwarts is in Scotland (filmed in Alnwick Castle, Oxford University and Christ Church College). It has numerous charms and spells on and around it that make it impossible for a Muggle to see it or locate it. They only see ruins and several warnings of danger. Foreign language translations had to change Tom Marvolo Riddle's name, so that an appropriate anagram could be formed. In Icelandic (my language) his name is "Trevor Délgome" which aligns with "Ég er Voldemort". Hermione and Ron's awkward non-hug was the result of Emma Watson being embarassed to hug both Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in front of everyone, with her hugging Daniel during filming having to be frozen for a few seconds to get the desired effect due to her breaking the hug too quickly. A sweet behind the scenes story is that during production, Emma Watson frequently brought her pet hamster Millie on set but, unfortunately, Millie passed away shortly after filming began. The set department created a specially-made hamster coffin for her. Though not really important plot-wise there is a post-credit scene. It shows a book that Lockhart has written titled "Who Am I?".

It's also prrretty obvious I love Gilderoy Lockhart. Kenneth Branaugh did a perfect job with that role. 100% pleased as a book reader.

Tracy R

If you want to see Kenneth Branagh in another great comedic role, you should check out Much ado about Nothing. Lots of well known actors in it too.

Marie Wagner

@nick Is HP3 only up for SuperFam ? It's been showing as locked for me (SuperFriend) but the others have shown up just fine as soon as the posting announcement was up.

Helena Briner-Ellis

I literally was going to post the exact same thing! It's probably my favorite Branagh role and pretty much the whole cast is fantastic!
