(As usual when starting a new drama, this first episode will be available to all tiers to give everyone a peak at what we're watching in case anyone would like to join us next episode.)

We're diving into this new-to-us drama as our leading lady Mirae starts college after some major plastic surgery. Already we can tell this change is going to be huge for her and that she's not really prepared for her new life. Her looks might have changed but the girl inside still has a lot of trauma to deal with and we're hopeful for her. On top of that we have our handsome male lead played by the gorgeous Cha Eun Woo but...did his character have some work done too? And to make this first episode even more dramatic, we have a dad who is clearly out of the loop and a creepy who doesn't know how to take a hint. Things are already getting crazy and we're so here for it!

Kang Mi Rae dance scene's original song was Psy - 'New Face'

They don't show Mi Rae's old face ever in the show. So that the actress who plays Mi Rae's younger version won't be bullied in real life.

First: Neither of you need any plastic surgery! I am not going to judge people for getting it, but I do think the instances where it's needed or even a net good for the world are very rare. It always worries me that people are caving to societal pressure about beauty standards, especially in the entertainment industry (both in Korea and the US), and that they are creating more self-hate rather than increasing their self-love. Now onto my thoughts about this show! I am so glad you gals are watching because this is legitimately one of my top 5 dramas, just because of how frankly it dealt with the culture of plastic surgery in South Korea, the double standards for men and women, and the beauty-obsessed practices that pit girls against each other. Some people find the story too slow (and Eunwoo's character too stoic) but I love the realistic awkwardness of how Mirae develops, the adorably innocent pace of her relationship with Kyung Seok - and the fact that he's not a jerk here or even particularly emo, but rather a truly closed off person who needs her to draw him out as much as she might "need" his protection. And, yes, you are right: Mirae is rating people's faces, as well as listing the surgeries required to get those looks. She will say when she thinks someone has gotten work done (like the girl on the subway), but not every surgery listed has been done by the person she's rating. And Eunwoo's character didn't get work done, they just inexplicably chose an actor only one year younger than Eunwoo to play Kyung Seok in middle school lmao. It's supposed to be about 5 years since she's seen him, which is why she didn't recognize him until he said his name, but he was always the most popular & handsome guy in school, and he's a "natural beauty" like Sua.

Oh that smart! We thought if they did they would've just put prosthetic pieces and used special effects makeup on the actress.

First off, thank you! And also thanks for the info. That casting choice for a younger Eunwoo sure was...yeah, lol. But still, this is great and we cant wait to watch more.

All Eun Woos FL actresses are older then him in real life. Even his new drama.

This is just my opinion but I like the subtitles better on Viki even though sometimes there is a lot added things.

I’ve always wondered if Kim Go Eun (one of my favorite actresses) felt insulted when the dad compared her to his daughter’s look presurgery. KGE has monolid eyes (as opposed to double which is what some Koreans think is the beauty standard) which I think are so gorgeous on her and I love that she hasn’t gotten them done. In any case, the mom is not necessarily a bad mom because she let her do the surgery. I think like most moms, she was just softer and felt her daughter’s pain more. The dad, although he accepted her looks and thought the world of her, was blind to her suffering. They all have faults here and that’s why I like this show. They show everyone’s human-“ess”, sometimes it’s even painfully embarrassing to watch, and sometimes they show simple scenes that are so touching without being overly dramatic. It’s like watching somebody’s life, as opposed to a drama. The production is not flashy, not super high quality but the story telling is really good, in my opinion at least. 😍

Nope, Kyung seok didn't do any plastic surgery. He is a natural beauty here. They just brought a guy 1 year younger thn eunwoo to play his school days. Also, the other tall dude meant that mi rae is plastic and that's why he said that girls think the plastic face is pretty. The other crappy senior dude said he likes this kind of girls (girls who did major plastic surgery on their faces). Now coming to the show, this show has more realistic approach to plastic surgery and the peer pressure in Korea. I will be honest, both leads are two awkward people. Mi rae was a bright, fun girl who was became insecure because of constant verbal abuse. Kyung seok is asocial. He is straightforward, doesn't like façade and wants to be left alone by superficial people. Most of the men in this show are jerk except for Kyung Seok. He is straightforward and can see through people's bullshit. This drama was so refreshing for me coz after ages I found ML with two brain cells. Mi rae though did plastic surgery, but she has many inner demons to fight. This drama was so tough for eunwoo to shoot. He was surviving on 3-4 hours of sleep and if you check Behind the scenes (available on JTBC Youtube channel withe ng sub), he was literally sleeping in between scenes. This drama was a sleeper hit in Korea and internationally as well. Nobody actually thought this would become such a hit. The FL is more experienced but was hardly famous, it was new drama for eunwoo and all cast was new. Also, I think you guys are gorgeous the way you are,

Love this show so much. It was the second kdrama I ever watched and is probably my favorite next to True Beauty. I'm clearly a huge fan of tsundere characters. Even though Suho will always have my heart, I think Kyungseok is more my type and we're planning on getting married soon. 🤡 Side note to help you be less confused on future dialogue: the other classmates are aware she had plastic surgery. Mirae mentions during an inner monologue that her plastic surgery is obvious. Those comments like "I've never seen someone with plastic surgery before", "I like girls like her", and "Do girls think those kind of faces are pretty" are directed at her and her plastic surgery.

This scene is AMAZING! It hurts my heart every time I see the changed version - also, am I crazy or did they remove the scene where Kyung Seok is sent to help Sua with the song and doesn't know the lyrics lmao?
