(As with all newly started K-Dramas, episode 1 is available to all tiers. If you'd like to continue watching with us, make sure you're signed up as a Gold or Platinum K-Cordie.)

In this first episode, Cheon Sa-rang starts working at the King Hotel and, despite a few hiccups, seems to work her way up the ladder thanks to her intelligence, hard work, and sunny smile. Guwon, an heir of the King Hotel, is pushed away by his half-sister for years until some papers are delivered to him that make him move back home and demand a place in the family business. This first episode was a great setup with some already fun and swoon-worthy moments. We're already hooked and can't wait to see where this is going to go!

This is a typical story trope with the older sister in kdrama land. You have an older sibling or just a sibling that is clearly the one for the family business but either because of birth order, gender, parentage, or any of the above, they are being overlooked or shoved to the side. The sibling that is being primed for the job is either a) completely disinterested or b) because the one that is more suitable is doing unethical/illegal things to show the idiot parent they are suitable, their fears become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The disinterested one becomes interested because the other is being an a$$hat and parent is proved 'right'. The sister is a very interesting character in this trope. I felt they did a decent job with her. The sister hired her because she did adapt on the fly to the snotty ones ridiculous demand in the interview and saw her come in with a broken heel, not looking frazzled. Sis overlooked the fact that she didn't have a 4-year degree. You have until episode 8 to continue swimming in the River DeNile until Junho snatches you. Just saying :) Yoona (the FL) is from Girls Generation. She does a lot of dramas now. King the Land is a full travel experience company: flight, hotel and the shop is in an airport/mall with no duty fees on the items.

There are so many scenes where you're going to die... Just saying...

Oh, that's interesting about the trope. For a long time we were watching more high school dramas, so we haven't stepped too far into the more adult drams yet. Good to know though! Also good to know about episode 8. Free has no hope! lol We're also not super familiar with Girls Generation. We've seen a few videos but heard the FL in this was from GG. We're already loving her! Also, thanks for the info about the company!

Guwon's mum disappeared when he was young (the reason will be disclosed near the end and I don't want to spoiled it). He wants to find out her whereabouts but has no clue at all (all evidences of her existence were removed, like he said to his dad "I don't even know how she looks like/is she died or not."). The courier he received is his mum's past employment record at King Hotel. That's why he went back and chose to work at the King Hotel, hoping to find out more about his mum. This is by far the least complicated main character portrayed by Junho imo (and the only wealthy one except being the King in The Red Sleeve lol) He is so good at expressing complicated feelings/portraying complicated characters that I am glad he can rest/heal for a bit after The Red Sleeve (he is the type that immerses himself to "be" the characters during the whole preparation and filming which may not be good for his mental health)

On paper, this shouldn't really be for me, but I really enjoyed this first episode! Can't wait for the next one. And yes the songs in this are sick!
