This week at TimeGhost we welcome you to a new year and a few new things on the show. First of all, the set has been completely re-done. We even experimented with having extra's on set, but if you don't like it then don't panic because we only filmed two episodes like this as a sort of trial run.

Also, we are now giving credit to the most recent TimeGhost Army members at the Captain tier or higher - which is $25. This includes both new recruits, and those who recently increased their pledge.

Thank you all for your support, and happy new year!

Also, early access for War Against Humanity dropped today: https://www.patreon.com/posts/60476320

175 - And Now It's 1943... - WW2 - January 1st, 1943

The attrition cannot continue so the Japanese decide they will evacuate Guadalcanal, conceding the Solomon Islands to the Allies. The Allies are also conceding the Caucasus, and a naval battle in the far north convinces Hitler that he shoudl scrap the entire German surface fleet. 1943 begins ominously for the Axis. Great set redesign, looks great. Having extras in the background is fun, but distracting. Maybe in the long term I'll get used to it, but judging only from this episode, the movement in the background is more destracting than it adds.

I like the background with extras. They give the sense of doing the analysis that underpins the series.

i like the extra also, i just add a bit of realism. great episode as always :)

The set looks great. I can’t help but wonder if the extras will look more frantic or busy as things unfold. I can’t imagine a person calmly sitting down writing in the week of june 6 1944 example. Or the week Stalingrad is officially ended.

Set looks great, but the extras are distracting.

Ward

I find it hard to focus on Indy with that lovely lady working over his right shoulder. Just saying...

"Cameos" please, not "extras"! James & Ward are pretty on point IMHO. It is nice to view the other team members but this format misses, it is way too distracting. One concept - as in a raw basic concept you've probably already discarded - could be to have someone deliver Indy a note he could comment on, before picking up the phone or whilst he's talking to Jose etc. Then different team members could have a turn. It needn't be every episode, just one or two per month across the different mini-series means 12 - 24 non-distracting cameos introducing everyone. Indy could give the cameo role's name as well as Army Member OTW for deeper engagement. Indy could also dial out as a result, or ask the messenger for clarification, or give breaking news to segue to next week's episode - whatever cleverer idea you come up with. I'm just floating it out there after watching. This is not professional financial advice. Happy 2022 from Canberra to everyone. 2.5hrs into it and it still feels a lot like 2021 so far. Bummer, but going for 30deg & sunny here today. A roof down country drive or motorbike ride is in order.

Stalingrad! The Caucasus! Operations Uranus, Mars, Saturn, Little Saturn... lots going on here. But what about further north, at Leningrad? I'm sure it's not "all quiet" there. Isn't Hitler urging the Finns to attack?

I concur with the members who complain about distracting background. I keep watching what the girl does and I loose track of what Indy says.

Haha, the thumbnail immediately caught my eye! I hadn't noticed you started doing original thumbnails but I can now. It's clearly taken from the popular GIF of Leo DiCaprio giving us a toast in The Great Gatsby. Great work team and happy new year!

The fighting around Mt Austen was fictionally represented in the book and later the movie “The. Thin Red Line”.

When the war is over, (if not already mentioned)I think you make a book with the maps in the videos and using your scripts as the writing could fit well id think. for a good opportunity too as I gained my passions and lots of learnings from books.
