This week the Germans push hard  on both Tobruk and Sevastopol, but the Soviet and Commonwealth defenders hold steadfast. Though both lose serious fortifications to the advancing Axis forces, they key cities remain out of German reach.

On a side note, how do you like the thumbnail today? The map, gun, and flagpoles create a very striking image that really captures how hard the Soviets are holding tight and fighting to the end. It's one of my* favorite original images we've produced so far. Big shout out to you guys here on Patreon that let us hire such incredible graphic designers, and big shout out to the graphic designers themselves.

Thank you for your support, see you next week!

Doing an awesome job, can’t wait for the battles this summer

Loved the graphic. By the by, at 1:36 it should be conquest.

Outstanding production quality and writing. Was a bit disappointed at the continual small pop-up ads at the bottom of the screen. They are very distracting.

How exactly did the Japanese think they could get the Graf Zeppelin all the way from the Baltic through to the eastern Pacific? They would have to run the gauntlet of the Royal Navy and RAF in the North Sea (look what happened to the Bismarck), then go all the way around either Africa and the Indian Ocean or South America and the Pacific Ocean with no friendly ports along the route all while being pursued by both the RN and USN.

Interesting to hear the Légion étrangère mentioned during the N Africa campaign. It's amazing to think that foreign soldiers continued to fight for the free French during WW2. Maybe worthy of a special episode???

The thumbnail really caught my eye. I normally read the weekly text and then delete the notification email, but I stayed for an extra moment to admire the thumbnail. The only unfortunate thing is that it's probably too detailed for a thumbnail on most screens. I would have upped the sharpness on the gun to make it really scream, and maybe blurred or dulled the shades of the map on the top left (because it's probably hard to see while scrolling through videos). It should be there but less prominent, you want full prominence on the bottom right. Thanks for the vid as always.

Guys, I have already commented at YT, but it seems the comment did not catch your attention. You have a serious factual error at 12:46 - it's Ležáky, not Levasky. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le%C5%BE%C3%A1ky

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/barbarossa1/operation-barbarossa-documentary?ref=project_build/ Hello everyone. I am planning on making a documentary on Operation Barbarossa. I am currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, so I could get the necessary equipment to help me make the documentary. If you can - please contribute. Thank you very much.

Thumbnail is really good!

de Gaulde cried when he learned the French soliders escaped. That's in his Memoirs. Koening was the last Marshall promoted in France for its feat in el Baerkim. It is probably the greastest battle of Free France of the War.

They'd still have to get past the RN in the North Sea and travel in summer to avoid ice which would mean near constant daylight (easier to get spotted and attacked) plus I think even in summer there is a risk of ice. Then they'd have to get past the USN including passing through the Bering Strait which is only 50 miles / 80 km wide off the coast of Alaska.

Great video as usual

Move the Graf Zeppelin to Asia? How? A channel dash followed by what, the Mediterranean, around the Cape? The desperation is clear. BTW is it pronounced Se VAS topol or Sevas TO pol?
