This week sees the worlds first airborne-only invasion yet. This episode in World War Two is another dynamic one drenched in military drama, where one parties utilize the incompetent leadership shown by their opponents. Now, the operation is very bloody and quite costly for all parties – and many lessons will be learned from this by many different parties.

As this is another iconic moment in World War Two history (we'll have quite a few of these in the upcoming weeks), I do want to thank you intensely for your continuing support. We wouldn't have made it this far without you, and thanks to you we are working on an amazing set of videos for the upcoming weeks to cover all perspectives of upcoming events (it was hard writing this without spoiling).

In any case, thank you!

Stay safe and sane!
Cheers,

The sheer fact this entire operation worked in the first place is just so ridiculous. Like, realistically speaking, the Allies shouldve easily been able to crush those paratroopers, it was a close fight even in our world. Also, i keep wondering how the Allies were expecting that germany would pull a naval landing off. Like, think about it. A naval landing requires the ability to maintain a safe corridor. That was an ability the Axis most certainly didnt have at that point in time. Like, even if they had waited a bit to get Scharnhorst and Gneisenau fixed up to force their way through Gibraltar alongside the Bismarck, by the time theyre through, the mediterrean fleet wouldve intercepted and sunk that formation, before then moving on to the italian fleet (whats left of it anyway) trying to link up with said ships, and even if that didnt work somehow, sending all those big ships down is something Britain wouldve noticed way in advance and wouldve responded to by sending over some additional battleships and carriers, just to be sure.

The British certainly could snatch defeat from the the jaws of victory, because of the bad leadership.

Honestly if freyberg isn’t hung with fishing line as a traitor, well I don’t know what to think. He is either criminally incompetent like codorna. Or he is traitor. Either way hanging is the solution. To waste the efforts of the kiwis in particular, and also Australian forces is just criminal.

Freyberg made mistakes, he was a better general than this performance suggests. Very good at set peice battles and popular with the New Zealand troops.. If you want to look up the details you'll get a more nuanced view. For instance, with all the purported advantages the allies had. Freybergs transport was shot out from under him 9 times I n this battle alone. Basically there is a lot that isn't getting put into these 10 - 15 minute episodes, if there is something that drives your emotions in them then put a check on your emotions and read up about the subject.
