The Indonesian War of Independence officially begins as Sukarno and Hatta proclaim Indonesian Independence on the 17th of August, 1945. They started to pave the way to Independence under Japanese occupation. But soon after the proclamation, it became clear that the Allied forces in the Pacific weren't willing tot accept the sudden takeover of a major nation in East-Asia. The war officially starts, not necessarily with the Dutch, but with the British and Japanese.
