Between Two Wars 1938 04 - Stalins Purges & The Great Terror (Patreon)
Content
A lot of people died in the Soviet Union in 1937 and 1938 in a wave of arrests, executions and widespread paranoia. But while it might be tempting to attribute this all to Stalins personal paranoia, the true story behind these mass killings is a little more complicated. We'll tell you all about it in this last episode of 1938.
We have been getting some questions about what effect the Coronavirus will have on our production. We will make a social media update about this later this week, but we would like you to know that we're doing fine - and that we are able to continue our work. Though Joram and Wieke stayed in the Netherlands, Indy did make it to Germany to shoot World War Two weekly's and specials, the final three Between Two Wars episodes and the new Indonesia series. This will take us to late April. We don't know what the world will look like at that point.
I hope that everyone is safe. Take good care of yourself and the people around you. As my Prime Minister told our country tonight, 'The measures that are taken here and elsewhere are unimaginable for countries in time of peace [...] together we will get through this'. May our content bring some distraction and relief, or put things in perspective during this crisis.
All the best,
Joram
