A lot of people died in the Soviet Union in 1937 and 1938 in a wave of arrests, executions and widespread paranoia. But while it might be tempting to attribute this all to Stalins personal paranoia, the true story behind these mass killings is a little more complicated. We'll tell you all about it in this last episode of 1938.

We have been getting some questions about what effect the Coronavirus will have on our production. We will make a social media update about this later this week, but we would like you to know that we're doing fine - and that we are able to continue our work. Though Joram and Wieke stayed in the Netherlands, Indy did make it to Germany to shoot World War Two weekly's and specials, the final three Between Two Wars episodes and the new Indonesia series. This will take us to late April. We don't know what the world will look like at that point.

I hope that everyone is safe. Take good care of yourself and the people around you. As my Prime Minister told our country tonight, 'The measures that are taken here and elsewhere are unimaginable for countries in time of peace [...] together we will get through this'. May our content bring some distraction and relief, or put things in perspective during this crisis.

All the best,
Joram

Wrong year, it says 1948, not 38. Apart from that I cant wait!

Although it looks like that may be a Patreon-onky typo so all good :)

Glad to hear all of the team is still well, I was a little worried about if this would affect the production and while I'm glad things wont be affected for a while, obviously that's not the important thing at the moment. You guys' work will definitely help to keep me occupied during the time I'm going to be stuck indoors! Stay safe and keep being awesome <3

Think you mean 1938. Okay, I’m sure there were purges in 1948 as well but you know... 😉 Hope all stays well with the pandemic. I think several of us will come to rely on you guys a great deal over the coming weeks.

We are living in historical times. I wonder what this channel might say of us in the future...
