World War Two 067 - Germans Start Planning Invasion of the Soviet union (Patreon)

Here it is, the preview for the 67th episode of our weekly World War Two series. We're sorry for the delay - we faced some technical issues as we're working with a new editor and we need to get everything set up. 

Additionally, YouTube forces us to again waste time dealing with their shenanigans as yesterday 1. our War Against Humanity video about the Blitz Spirit Myth has been age-restricted (further decreasing its potential reach) and 2. our TimeGhost History video on the Holodomor has been removed from YouTube entirely. Needless to say, we were shocked and severely disappointed by YouTube. While claiming to fight extremism and support educational content, they are now basically doing the opposite.

We're currently doing our best to get the video reinstated and we're considering what else we can do to raise awareness and support.

In any case - this shows that if it wasn't for all of you, we would not be doing any of this. We can't rely on YouTube for the monetisation (and thus the production) of our series and we can't rely on it to be a host to our series as well. Something has to change. If YouTube demonitizes adult content and can't monitize children's content, how will they make money? This seems really short sighted on their end. Maybe you could get a Netflix deal?

The difficulty that skilled documentarians have in presenting well researched and supported content is distressing. Your channels should be held up as a great example of how an open platform can engender important contributions to society from independent parties. Instead, it is continually marginalized. It seems Youtube is no longer an open platform, but a corporate entity serving nothing more than corporate interests. The retirement of Google's co-founders and their "Don't be evil" motto underscores this point.

I think it could be better to start thinking upload the videos to your website. Of course adding ads will be something difficult in the start but... Youtube is following the Medieval Digital Age that we are.

My shining moment in college, the first week-- the rest was downhill. International Relations, lecture A.F.K. Organski, who had a thick mittel European accent--while lecturing, the rest of the time, more NY/NJ. 200 kids, "Why is it a meeth that the Russian Winter defeated Napoleon, the Russian Winter defeated the Nazis?" The kid in the glamrocker clothes (to my everlasting shame) quipped, "'Cause the Russians had the same winter." "Brilliant. We have a future Joint Chiefs of Staff right in the front row." And.... my career peaked and ended. But it does come down to footwear and layers. The Germans never seemed to understand this. Though I wonder about hands. I love snow, but take off my mittens and I'm helpless. Has anyone investigate the frequency of chillblains among the Germans and the Russians?
