Content

As I wrote yesterday, this upload was delayed because of our busy week of shooting. We shot new Between Two Wars episodes, as well as World War Two episodes up until 7 august. Additionally, there's two specials on drug use in the Third Reich. The first episode aired last Tuesday and the second of the two-part special will be published later this week.

We keep looking for new ways to bring you more content. As you are our investors, we'd like to keep you up to speed and explain the reasoning behind our priorities. We're trying to do specials like the drug ones on a regular basis from now on. We have reviewed our priorities and are shifting some more capacity towards the writing/researching process, so we can deliver some more videos. We hope that this will improve the quantity and quality (as we have more fact-checking power as well) of all of our videos. We're very interested to hear your input, both new ideas and feedback!

Cheers,

Joram

Hitler ❤️ Paris - WW2 - 042 - June 15 1940

The fighting in France isn't over, not even when Paris falls, as the Germans advance and Italy joins the fight. Further east Stalin uses the chaos in the West as cover to start moving in on his neighbours. The timeline stuff is, as always, spot on. But it's the special focus episodes which I love (Chieftain talking about tanks, the High Hitler episodes ( that set!), Spartacus's war crimes episodes etc). Would be overjoyed if you could rope in other guest presenters, but no rush; it's only 1940 😉

Say, when will the jazzy timeghost patch be available for purchase??

Can you comment on some of the research for the drug specials? Lots of comments seem to be tossing shade at Ohler as a source, but as I understand it some of the research on Theodor Morell was done by (once reputable) historian David Irving who, although he regrettably seems to have become a Holocaust denier, was at least at one point respected for his work with primary sources like Morell's records.

I was quite sad when In-Range/Forgotten Weapons said they had to back out of the collab. I really hope their schedules can cooperate sometime in the future.

The Maps are on Point, very very good

I've commented on this under the YouTube videos before, but i don't mind doing it again here. e did use Ohler, as well as a number of other sources, for this episodes. He delivers some reliable numbers and facts about the manufacturing and use of drugs in the Thirds Reich and the Wehrmacht. However, I agree that his analysis and interpretation on the effect and use of those drugs sensationalistic at best. Just because he is off in his analysis doesn’t mean his work is useless as a whole. We didn’t mindlessly copy his assessment nor do we agree that the entire Wehrmacht or whole Germany was drugged up during the course of the war. Let alone support the claim that this in any way takes away any of the responsibility for the war and the atrocities that were committed in it, as is stated in the pinned comment. We try to use an academic approach in our research and scriptwriting, but sadly our format or the platform doesn’t support a proper critical historiographical analysis or an explanation of our use of sources. As for Irving, as far as I'm concerned he lost all his credibility as a historian. Still, there are more who report Hitlers drug use and not just to 'shift the blame'. A reliable paper is this one on Hitlers medical care: https://www.rcpe.ac.uk/college/journal/adolf-hitlers-medical-care I hope this helps. Cheers, Joram

Who knows! We're open for anything, but (and this partly caused them to back out), its very hard and time consuming to coordinate a proper coordination between different existing YouTube channels, each with their own style, preferences and schedule. - Joram

We don't know if it ever will! It was a reward for whoever supported the Kickstarter Campagin back in 2017/2018, and we're shipping out the last ones over the next few months. We will be doing other merch though when that has been finished. - Joram

I look at what YT channels like Time Ghost produce, and considering the budget and resources which you have, it is more nuanced and contextualised than anything that I see coming out of mainstream TV channels. Heck, History Hit TV, for all it's high profile presenters, lacks even the basic benchmark in graphics that I'm come to expect from you lot, the World War I channel, or MHV. I get more than my money's worth for my modest Patreon subscription.
