Hey folks!

We're publishing a rather special Between Two Wars episode today. When we decided to do a B2W episode on China in the 1920's, we soon learned that the backstory of China is very complex and hugely influential for the state of China in modern times. We decided to add a prelude episode, covering the fall of China in the 19th century. We loved to dive into this history, since many on the team did not know too much about this at the start of the process. I feel that the eurocentrism in our western education system really blocks this topic from entering common knowledge. Well, that ends today. Enjoy our episode about the fall of the Chinese empire.

Cheers,

Joram

Smashing China to Pieces, the Background | Between 2 Wars | 1925 Part 1 of 2

The 19th century throws all kinds of terror and unfortune on China, which not long before was the most powerful nation in the world. While many other western, asian and even American nations seek to gain influence in China through politics, wars and trade, China itself tries to hold on to its glory days. Hey, I'm new here (love your work for years blahblahblah happy to give blahblah), can you explain what is a preview exactly? Is it the full material released early for us or is it some sort of teasing (16 minutes teasing!) and the full video will only be available later with more content? Thanks!

What a coincidence! I'm currently taking a class on modern Chinese history and I recently had to do a presentation summarizing Sun Yat-sen and the 1911 Revolution, the Warlord Era, and the Chinese Civil War!
