Being a commission with pretty clear details I didn't have much to rework.

So, basically I was looking for a kinda silly concept.  Panel one detailing a fire with a bunch of silhouetted figures, kind of a menacing thing with text along the lines of 'Megakolo, fierce warriors of the north.  It is said their violent lifestyle and barbaric ways is fueled by their devotion to their demonic firegod', just kinda talking them up.  And then the second Panel is just...Umi slamming his head into a low doorframe and text that's just 'well...mostly'.

The original request asked for two panels. Though extra work for me, I felt a lot of the story was lost with only the two panels so I added and additional panel leading up to the face donk.

Blocked in some dramatic lighting. I wasn't all too sure on how I was going to set up the first panel. I knew I wanted something edgy to juxtapose* the remaining of the comic.

*Juxtaposed: place or deal with close together for contrasting effect.

Pretty straight forward. I am very much enjoying the new brush I was recommended.

Clip Studio Paint, Pencil, Darker Pencil.

Coloured the line art to a darker blue and added the base colours.

Added a few extra bits of colour details.

This was a cell shaded commission, so some nice bold shadows on Umi in the bottoms panels.

Highlights and some extra details in the fire.

Added text.

I feel like I rushed the first panel and the text is kinda awkward. It just doesn't flow naturally. I had to work with what I had, but I should have planned the text whilst planning the sketch out. It just doesn't look nice and more of an after thought.

I am very happy with the character work with Umi. The expressions are really nice.
