THE BRIEF

Non Toxic is now Ice Cream.

THE STARTING SKETCH

I made an ice cream cone shape. Using this as a guide I blocked out Non Toxic's details and his round little booty.

More details!

Now that I have blocked out the basic details, I like to go back over and refine them. This makes my inking much easier as I can follow the detailed sketch closer rather than guessing with the minimal sketch.

Some artist find this process time wasting and unproductive. For me, the first sketch blocks the whole character out. The second sketch blocks out and refines the smaller details. This makes my lineart much nicer.

ICE CREAM CONE!

LINE ART

Adding a new layer above I ink in the line art.

After I have finished the line art I select Lock Transparent Pixels toggle.

This screencap is from Clip Studio Paint. Photoshop has the same setting  available. It is located in the same area.

I coloured the line art.

COLOURING

Staying on the line art layer, I use the Magic Wand tool and select the areas that I wish to colour. Holding the SHIFT key you can add to more areas to your selection.

Adding a new layer below I use the Fill tool and fill in the colour.

This is a screencap of Clip Studio Paint.

REVIEW

This was a spontaneous little doodle for a good friend. I am liking that I am being more dynamic with my characters and it is taking me less time to finish arts.
