The connection between Mami's wish and her magical specialty involves some Japanese wordplay. There's an expression meaning "to survive [a potentially fatal experience]" which uses the verb "tsunagu" meaning "to tie up", and Mami's special magic is her binding ribbons.

If you like the stylistic choices/art direction in this you should definitely check out the Monogatari series at some point. It's made by the same studio and is an even crazier display of the unconventional animation, composition, camera angles, and overall art direction that the studio often uses.

Haha that would be great. I’ve had similar feelings; if they ever set up a P.O. Box, that could be a great way for their community to connect with them a bit more since they don’t read most comments to avoid spoilers (which I appreciate).
