Please help!! Should we be watching the Intro and Outro? Or are there spoilers that could take away from the viewing experience?

Brakthir

Hey! One of my major pet peeves are people who over exaggerate the spoilers in OPs and outros for reactors. I will be honest, I have never skipped an OP or ED in my life and have never felt like my viewing experience was impacted negatively in any way. You get flashes of images, moments and I would not consider any of them to be spoilers. One of my favorite aspects of reactors is when they view an OP/ED for the first time. Skipping them because people out there (who ALL saw the OPs when they first aired) believe they will ruin the experience for you (wrongly, I might add) is doing yourself a disfavor, IMO

Evan Valenti

Intro has spoilers. Outro has one discreet spoiler. Watch the outro after 15 and the intro after 17.

Brakthir

However, if we are speaking about this OP specifically? I just rewatched it. No spoilers whatsoever OR they are glimpses that you won't even realize have relevance until the moment already happens in the show. This is, in my opinion, one of the most spoiler-free OPs out there.

Brakthir

It really, REALLY doesn't. It has glimpses AT best and it won't spoil anything

AutoSaveFamily

Thank you everyone in advance for your help! We had two new OP's occurring simultaneously and were told not to watch one of them!

Neutr0n

This opening is not any more spoilery than the first

Bishey

The intro absolutely has a shot that contains a spoiler or at least it heavily implies a future event. I agree with Evan that you should watch it after Episode 17. I don't think there is any spoilers in the outro though. So you should be good to watch that starting next episode.

Saku

People with good intuition can immediately take a hint about what's coming even from some subtle implications in an op. I think they can wait until ep 17 or 18.

@Breakthir Preach! I realize that this is also an overreaction on my part but whenever I see someone skip an opening because of supposed spoilers I get legitimately mad. Not at them, but at the people who have themselves seen the op's the first time without getting spoiled whatsoever, but now that they have finished the show they can suddenly understand those hints and advise others to skip it. And then they do the math lol. They start to completely overanalyze that stuff like "There is this one frame that contains an unrecognizable shape that will completely give everything away when you interpret it in the very specific way it is meant to be taken as so I would recommend watching it during episode 20, which doesn't have an op but you can just look it up on YouTube and watch it at minute 7 of the episode." Or maybe you can just watch it when the anime is intending you to watch it instead of completely overcomplicating everything god damn. I had a similar discussion with some people under the latest Re:Zero reaction, because they were saying to skip the opening but watch the trailer for season 3 after finishing season 2. Like are you serious? Trailers will actually spoil stuff. Re:Zero makes me even more mad because it deliberately shows the second opening extremely late because it would spoil stuff otherwise and people still complain about it. Obviously you're gonna' find spoilers when you deliberatively search for them after already knowing what will happen. Damn... sorry for the rant this topic just always gets me heated lol

Nossso

I'd personally skip the OP until like episode 18, since it has a scene where observant people like yourself can figure out what happens. But I'm also notoriously strict about what counts as a spoiler in my friend group.

Hollow

I think it's more fun as a viewer to not have the OP hinting at characters, moments and connections in the show.

Brakthir

Lord save me from the reactor anime community and their insanely strict interpretation of spoilers.

Jay Craig

The only anime op I’ve ever thought was skip-worthy was AoT season 3 part 2, everything else is just people mad overreacting and trying to over micro-manage their reactors

Anonymous

Its safe to watch imo. The opening doesn't have any major spoilers just hints to a future event and subtle hints to some character scenes that you won't have context for anyway. Ending is definitely safe to watch.

Always watch the OP/ED, they are part of the experience. The director made them the way they are because he intended the audience to receive that much information. You watched Madoka recently. Would episode 3 be as impactful if you were to skip the new ending? I can tell you a large part of your audience wants to see you react to them. Don't be scared, if they are really spoilery I think you always be warn beforehand. If you are really concerned about getting spoiled, maybe ask your mods to clear things out when starting a new show.

Markus

The opening is mostly free of spoilers, but I personally think it's better to err on the side of caution and wait until after episode 17. It's probably safe for most reactors to watch it right away, but Anna and Ben pick up on things really quick. Either way, they themselves decide what's best for their own viewing experience.

This is where the shows makes a huge turn. So glad we've made it so far. Can't wait for you guys to watch it all and to react to OP and ED... Thorfinn's progression so far is amazing, god I love him so much.

Doodlegame

First off, just dont watch it till ep 17. People who say they weren't spoiled at least a little bit by the OP are capping. And most people barely pay attention to the symbolism or foreshadowing in an OP and therefore never make any of the obvious connections. I think that while, this isnt the worst case of spoilers (Re:Zero, I'm looking at you), its still much worse than the first. As an example, even the latest Frieren OP gives away a lot in terms of what characters will be where. With just a short analysis, I was able to gleam a lot about what will be happening in the remaining episodes.

Ivan

Anime OPs and EDs: spoils half of the story through foreshadowing and implications. People who don't understand foreshadowing: "don't worry, there are no spoilers".
