Not sure if you read comments on old posts but here’s how the unfortunate situation at mappa came about not nearly explained as well as people on YouTube who are deeper into the matter are but I’ll try my best We actually have to go back to studio mad house because the founder of it is also mappas founder but with great success of madhouse came lots of corporate bs and soon the animators and directors couldn’t freely express themselves anymore so he founded mappa. Fast forward he discovered one of his friends has a talent for picking shows worth adapting so he put him into a higher position but he god greedy and eventually turned mappa into the same thing that made the founder leave madhouse and create a new studio to begin with That’s mappas ceo now with great lines in interviews like we can show the anime industry that quantity is better than quality and basically takes on any project he can get his hands on Jjk movie zero was only animated in 4 months to the detriment of the animators they did such a great job that mappas ceo took it as a pace the animators should just have to keep up with now since it already worked once which lead to the meltdown of jjk as we have been seeing it unravel throughout the season We can only hope lesson will be learned and that you can’t just force great and consistent animation if you don’t have the groundwork for it and make the staff fight an impossible to win uphill battle Also the founder of madhouse and mappa went on and created his 3rd studio now where animators and directors can freely artistically express themselves If you’re into the inside of animation Ben through the many videos on YouTube I found a great website called sakuga blog where you can also read about re:zeros production since you expressed curiosity in recent videos
