The score is called Old Stories, and it's my favorite Made in Abyss song. Ever since I first watched the 2nd season I listen to Old Stories probably once a week or every other week. Definitely worth a listen all the way through.

Watching Ana realize the ed lyrics to the song just cheered me up so much. Yes turns out the real friends was the love story between a robot boy and a fox/cat/fluffy/muppet princess girl all along!

30:15 - Ana literally calling out Faputa's mental state perfectly. Damn what attention to detail. That's exactly why Reg said she's burning herself away. But who cares because if your prince doesn't even remember you what's the point? Might as well save mom and fuck it all right. It would be such a Gut Punch to take. Just one mistake, although Reg doesn't remember, Faputa does remember that the girl is Regs Haku, so she still shows her favor and wouldn't lash out against his haku, She doesn't want her prince to hate her after all.

Faputa is probably one of the best fictional characters ever created. I think it's creative perfection. Her story, her internal conflicts, her aspirations, her abilities, her design, her half-animal behavior, her animation, her voice actress (Misaki Kuno deserved an award for this performance. This is probably one of my favorite episodes in all media, not just anime. This episode should be required viewing when learning about direction, shot composition and editing for animated media. I think it is that good.

This episode was most likely my favorite episode of the entire series because of how damn well it is done. I liked it even more than the movie arc itself. I don't wanna go on and name off everything but if I had to I could name off a big list of reasons why this episode was immaculate. I already hold made in abyss as my forever top 3 shows of all time and this episode solidifies that thinking for me every time I watch it. This season doesn't do much in the overall adventure but in terms of the main characters, reg and faputa in particular, it makes them go from average to amazing. I can't wait for you to see the rest of the season and how it wraps up. Also gonna be sad cause I have to experience the agony of seeing made in abyss be on hold once again.

I think they relly nailed the season finale as a whole as far as direction and especially the music choices go. Letting all 7 minutes of Old Stories play through the episode was just emaculate.

The Anime is great but it glosses over some important things sometimes. I think everyone would find a new depth of understanding to Faputa and Reg's relationship if they check the manga panels on this episode. Zero spoilers: https://mangareader.to/read/made-in-abyss-27/en/chapter-55 Specifically page 38 heavily implies that said baby making process was already in the trial phase. If not sex friends, they were definitely Lovers. Or if you really want to be that resistant to the idea, tickle buddies. I've watched this show so many times and this adds a whole nother level of hurt to the current events. Suddenly you understand why Faputa is so hurt and confused. Her Romeo, her forever person, the partner who wanted to spend immortality with her after his mission has come back and doesn't even remember her at all. That's so cruel... Suddenly all her actions and intimacy with reg make so much sense, from the start she's treated Reg like he was HERs, her best friend, her person, her item, her property, etc. without need to ask for permission etc. Meanwhile she maintains a solid distance from everyone else but the other Aubade observer. Almost a level of shyness toward them. But she acts with him the way you'd act with someone you knew for twenty years on the daily. Yet he acts so cold to her because to him she's a stranger.... :( This is worst than Nanami...

i think the fight between wilhelm and the white whale in rezero with the past and present fight intertwined telling the story of him getting his wife and avenging his wife is probably my favorite. its like 2 minutes long only but man is it powerful.
