I hope they have a mod who will tell them… yes. Bullseye. Right on the money

I forgot how much I love this new opening. About the openings, if you look back at Season 1 you'll notice that this show has a habit of foregoing the opening or ending (sometimes both) in order to squeeze in a couple extra minutes of actual content.

I recommend you watch the "Re:Zero Break Time" bits for this season - they're little shorts that follow an episode, alot like "Jujutsu Stroll" from Jujutsu Kaisen. This season, they contain a lot of interesting information that greatly enhances the watching experience due to the adapted material being cut so heavily. https://aniwave.to/watch/rezero-kara-hajimeru-kyuukei-jikan-break-time-2nd-season.kvvw/ep-1 you can watch them here (adblockers highly recommended), or if you don't trust my link find some other way to check it out.

He had it guys, he had the letter epiphany!!! It was faster than what I expected, but again, they do pay attention! But yeah, MODs, this isn't plot relevant anymore and won't ever be mentioned again, so, there is no point in hidding it. He is right. The letter was blank due to Rem's disappearance. In the Novels Subaru realized it. Rem was the one in charge of him and Subaru doesn't know how to properly write, so she was the only one who could have wrote the letter. And the contents of it disappeared as soon as she disappeared too, just like her stuff disappeared from her room in episode 17. The anime cut the explanation of it, (which, at that point, should already have happened) for some reason, so it doesn't matter how long they wait, it will never be confirmed and it isn't really relevant to anything anymore. Therefore, I think its ok to tell them that yeah, he is right. At least he can put his mind at ease. Again, this will never be mentioned again, in both Novels and Anime, so you can either confirm it to him OR let him have this doubt forever haha, the later sounds mean to me tho!! I do highly recommend telling them about the BREAKTIME episodes too, in this season they add great lore and world building.

Yeah, the last few minutes of this episode leave jaws on the floor. There is A LOT to process there. Roswaal's noble title is "Margrave" which (as I just looked up, as I didn't have the answer either) is an old German title, and a pretty senior one. Basically, nobility goes (Varying from country to country and time period): King Prince Duke Marquis/Marquess/Margrave Earl/Count Viscount Baron A Margrave specifically is a Count in charge of a kingdom's border province which would be known as a "March" or "Marke". This is where the name originally comes from, essentially meaning "Border Count". Because of the extreme importance of the position, and incredible amount of trust the King must have in the noble assigned to guard the Kingdom's borders, this ranks them above other Counts or Earls. A corrupt Margrave could take a bribe from an enemy nation to let them invade while keeping it secret. A lazy one could let the kingdom's defenses fall into disrepair. A cowardly one could run away instead of standing and fighting when an enemy army showed up to grab the territory. A stupid or fanatical one could antagonize the neighboring country, making the King's diplomacy impossible. And an ambitious one could raise an army with very little suspicion, and execute a coup before anyone noticed. It appears to have been a very privileged position in medieval times.

I agree. Lot of informations are in those shorts. Cut content too. It's worth watching them on the side, no need to react to them though.

Mitschiro

They aren't ready.

Season 1 is perfect in it's own way, I wouldn't change anything about it. That being said, I consider Season 2 to be a true masterpiece. Will be looking forward to every week from here on out 😄

DetectiveYuki

whether the timing for the letter matches or not, as long as rem wrote the letter, everything on it would disappear when she does since gluttony erases all trace of existence.

this is why i said the ova's are filler. yes you might learn a little bit about the characters(barely anything really), but season 2 is so lore dense EVERY episode is just jam packed full of info. you learn more stuff in episode one about the characters and the world then you learn in both ova's combined.

Daniel Borrego

cour 2 of season 2 is a bit rough. the backstories kinda mess up the pacing but its forgivable because you can tell they are trying thier hardest to be true to the material. season 1 is a lean mean machine. its so well directed and paced. you could say its almost the perfect show. i think perhaps re:zero season 1 is the anime i've been able to watch over and over again the most.

TheNDGhost

Anybody else noticed the like button has the same colour when selected vs not selected. Not a problem on other patreons at the moment and it really throws off my bookmarking system.

Gus N

That's not what filler means though. Whether it's plot relevant or not doesn't determine if it's filler, whether it's in the source material or not does.

Tibbers

It's so annoying man, I feel you, to me it happened on all the patreons I'm subbed to, I can never keep track of what I watched or not now

Daniel Borrego

i call anything thats basically non contributing to the plot filler. i mean you really consider naruto, sasuke and sakura trying to see kakashi's face canon and not filler because it actually happened in the source material too? If you cut out the ova's literally nothing changes. what did we actually find out? people treated emilia badly because she looks like the witch. we knew that already. how did emila and puck make a contract, puck was like 'hey emilia, wanna make a contract'. that was it. why does she call him her father? Because shes like 'father' and puck said 'yep, im your father'. and the other one really just seems like a hot springs/beach episode. everyone acts goofy and more like caricatures of themselves.

Hannah

I'm so excited for you guys - Season 2 is so lore heavy and its wonderful

Rafael Souza

You are wrong. We learn several things in the OVA: - We learn that Emilia had continuous nightmares that haunted her everyday, thats a huge foreshadowing to the Pandora events - We learn how Emilia's routine was in the forest, before meeting anyone from the Main Anime - We learn that there are people frozen in the forest and that Emilia feels like its her duty to take care of them - We learn that a Great Spirit of Fire existed, Melakuera and that he targeted Emilia - We learn that Melakuera thinks that the Witch calamity may be a cycle thing that happens every now and then, thus Emilia must be destroyed - We learn how Puck got his Great Spirit title -> By defeating Melakuera - We learn that the Black Serpent exists and that a small piece of it can basically one shot a Guiltylowe, thats OP as fk - We learn that someone created Puck with the sole purpose of him helping Emilia and we also learn the rules he must follow - We learn that Puck broke his vows and lost his memories - We get to see Emilia mining the same crystals that were used in the White Whale negotiation - We learn that there is a Mana Release Period, which relates to Roswaal's early days and his health issues Just because YOU don't consider some stuff relevant, or just because some of them get revealed later (black serpent, frozen ppl), doesn't mean the OVA is useless. It is the first time we see a lot of things and it has a huge amount of foreshadowing for future events.

Gus N

Well for one that episode of naruto isn't in the manga so it's filler anyway... At any rate, whether you call it filler or not it doesn't make it so. "Filler" is already a well known term by people who read manga and watch anime so unless you want to have this stupid discussion every time you should probably find a new word to describe what you're talking about...

Daco

The backstories made it even better for me

KenthalasAT

I have a serious "thing" for Echidna. She's a great character.

r3in_ch

the legendary episode is coming!

Caught him singing Iris in the beginning

SPOILERS: Subaru at the beginning of S2: imma gonna beat gluttony now. *Doesn't even get to meet gluttony the whole season, only manages to beat his (and his "girlfriend's") past* Subaru in the upcoming s3: ok imma gonna beat gluttony now *Only gets to learn that gluttony is three-fold, so they need to beat three sin arc bishops that share gluttony. Doesn't manage to beat any of them* Rem isn't gonna wake up until arc 7 (which will be either the end of s3 or the beginning of s4, if we ever get s4). And guess what Rem tries to do immediately after waking up? 😂 The whole Rem thing might seem a bit unnecessary, but Rem's absence actually ends up as a big character development point for Subaru. Arc 5 is full of actions and Arc 6 is out of this world good writing, but the one Arc I am really looking forward to get animated is Arc 7.
