You guys seem a bit mislead by some false information and mischaracterize certain characters, Bjorn for example never ever said he only likes "to go for fights he knows he can win", it was never part of his personality and never said that about himself and we actually always seen him doing the opposite (him fighting Thors for example) yet you seem to really focus on this particular false info about him lol, Bjorn as he said himself he like battle for the sake of battle, that's it, he is a true Norseman who's a firm believer of dying a warrior's death. Similarly for Askeladd you missed a lot of his characterization and you saying that you don't care for Askeladd makes me think you are missing everything about the character, every episode since the Ragnarok episode had been going into his character in more depth more and more and making his motivations more clear while still making sure you know he is seeing something you're not. You saying what he said about who he choose as a leader is "shallow" kinda triggered me a bit lol, he wasn't talking about himself when he said that like you seem to think, he talked about Canute since he is a prince and as he said a couple episodes before that he wants to make him king and use him to bring peace to Wales, meaning at one point Askeladd want to have Canute as his king and as he said he chooses who to follow and he wants to follow a version of Canute that makes him WANT to follow him which he we can assume is a version of Canute that will reminds him of Thors (which was already hinted at with the conversation he had with Thors and with the welsh general), you seem to kinda have missed a lot of the sublte hint he gives about his motives and actions and see it more surface level, like you saying "All his plans failed" and "He is shallow" is a big level of misunderstanding because you don't know what his plan or motivation are yet lol Hope you read the comments or that mods maybe can rely the information, no spoilers here in what I said or anything, just clarification and correction on what already happened

This is so monumentally condescending and figures for someone that can’t differentiate between their own understanding of the show after knowing what happens and having probably watched and or read it several times, and the understanding of people watching it for the very first time and watching once a week at that. I hope the mods absolutely do not share this comment. You do not need to clarify every single ambiguous thing that has happened so far in the story and give the definitive explanation, they can watch the show like everyone else does and understand things later through further context. They are not stupid.

I only corrected them on false information they have in a nice way, in no way was I condescending or did I clarify anything anbiguous. I haven't watched or read this show multiple times, I've been watching it with them (I'm only one episode ahead) and just feel like they are missing too much They say bjorn says that "he only likes to go for fights he knows he is gonna win" (they've said that multiple times in mutliples episode) which he never said but they got that because they didn't read the subtitles correctly in the episode when he talked with Askeladd in the boat and they based their entire idea of bjorn on that and in doing so they miss everything the character actually does because they just based their idea of the character on something that is false and actually have mischaracterization that fundamentally contradicts what the character actually is (based on what we seen) for Askeladd I only explained what they missed till now, in no way did I explain anything ambiguous about it that will be shown later in context (again I'm only one episode ahead). What I said was already shown and explained and they should have gotten it by now. I bet you can't tell me one single thing I said that wasn't already shown in the show and explained I also say that because I know they are not stupid, and wish their discussion would be at least based on correct information while still reminding them of stuff they forgot, it is not wrong to remind them of stuff that will enhance the quality of the discussion

Man... This community here is really trigger ready with the "ratio"-ing whenever someone criticizes something... The last time it was that person being annoyed at the JJK animation filters because of Japanese TV regulations.

Yeah I don't think my comment was in any way negative toward them either, just a friendly criticism and correction on stuff they missed or misunderstood, the aim is for them to better experience the show and enhance the discussions and commentary they have since I know they have a lot of great discussion in other animes they watch but I just noticed Vinland Saga doesn't really get the same quality of discussion most likely stemming from them missing and misunderstanding or misreading stuff (which can be normal for them since they are watching multiple shows once a week, some things are bound to be missed or forgotten), like them for example skipping talking about Askeladd as a whole in their discussion and the only thing they said about him being "shallow" which is the farthest thing you can ever use to describe his character after all the stuff shown in the series and stuff like that is honestly hurting the quality of their reaction that I'm used to. Friendly criticism and corrections should be encouraged in my opinion, especially since I'm not a manga reader or someone who already watched the show who is capable of spoiling, I've been watching it with them and I just notice a huge gap between my appreciation and enjoyement of certain characters (like Askeladd and his ideology and motives for example) or my interest in the setting and events happening than they are, Vinland Saga as a show seems to be very deep and has a lot of substance and subtlety yet they are seeing it in a very superficial way even more than other more superfiacial shows they are watching.

bro, getting mad at getting constructive criticism is one thing, getting mad over that on other people's behalf that you're not even personally close too and only a fan of is sad. ESPECIALLY when you're Assuming the information he presented is merely a subjective interpretation. Thinking that way is naive and is what leads you to miss important and subtle details in the first place. Works of fiction may be open to interpretation but author's intent is still objective and meant to be figured out or understood. OP properly assisted in steering them in the right direction. And op clearly knows what he is talking a bout. You never added anything to the conversation but destructive criticism; couldnt recall details on the story, couldnt point out how op was wrong, only gave your shallow opinion, as if you ONLY wanted to white knight. I too would have presented a similar argument as OP if they had not done so.

I think it's fine to inform a reactor about things they've missed/misunderstood, as long as it's done in a respectful and polite manner. Depending on it's importance to the story, misunderstandings could lead to future discussions being far off the mark and make things less enjoyable for both reactor and viewer alike. That being said, I also think it's important to let them react to a show with the least amount of outside interference as possible. This is the first time I've experienced that they have "misread" a character (they're pretty good at that usually). so it's hard to tell if their current opinions will remain the same in future reactions. However, I'm not too worried at the moment. Lastly, OP's comment was far from condescending. I don't know why, but somehow there's no room for any sort of discourse in a react channel's comment section. As long as it remains civil and free of spoilers, there shouldn't be a problem. What else is the comment section for, if not for conversing with the creator and community?

@floxer Thanks for the support Mr. I think the main reason the comment sections on this patreon are such a shithole is because they have no mods regulating any of it and they themselves don't read a single comment from there communitty which to this day i find absolutely bizarre. They miss out on so much interesting information that is completely spoiler free, and they miss out on important reminders like not missing new ED's when they change often like in Bocchi the Rock. Really unfortunate stuff because there reactions themselves are absolutely fantastic for the most part.

Yeah I still read comments sometimes but I don't really bother commenting much here anymore. They don't read them.
