It always annoys me when people compare and use the basic overdone shonen trope format instead of referencing other actual good series that don't follow a basic bland ass repetitive format

Great reaction and discussion, I love your point about Canute, how as a viewer you can't help but make assumptions about his character even when the show hasn't given you anything yet about him. About Helga's father: what was said in episode 2 or 3 is that his name is Sigvaldi and that he's the leader of the Jomsvikings (but that's not the same as the Danish army).
