A little nervous to hear your thoughts on the pie scene

Joshua

Mikasa being so cold towards Louis is probably because she did not want Louis to be like her. She doesn't want Louis to be a "slave" to someone she loves or admires, like how Mikasa is towards Eren. At least that's how I saw it.

Joshua

I agree that the whole pie scene felt super fast paced. (The pacing this episode was pretty wild in general) I personally would've enjoyed it better if they spent a bit more time with the characters trying to process how they feel about Annie. Epecially Connie, since in one of the previous episodes he emphasized how he was frustrated about being betrayed by his friends, which includes Annie. Something to remember though, is how Connie made a "pun" when Bert was burning down shiganshina. Making random unfunny jokes is his coping mechanism lmao. It's also the first time he laughed after Sasha died, which could be a sign that Armin managed to pull him out of his depressed state.

Guess it is pointless to try to change peoples opinions over the internet, but...I fucking love it, SO funny to me..I have seen it sooo many times by now, never fails to make me at least smile. Yes, the pacing could have been handled differently but since we go over the character interactions so magnificently in the next episode and going forward, I cant be at all mad or disappointed by it

In the middle of the episode “Have I ever eaten pie?”

Rafael Ramirez

Could also be that she doesn't feel like she deserves someone's devotion like that. But it might be like how you said and she's pushing Louis away like how Eren is pushing Mikasa away.

Genuinely so excited for the discussion about the next episode.

DJ Hunter

Remember in season 2, when they asked the cadets for details about Annie after she was discovered to be the female Titan and Sasha’s response was “Annie likes sweets”? The writers of season 4 remembers.

Adam Adamowicz

Ah, yes, the "Avengers Assemble" episode xD

Joshua

Yea you could be right too. What led me to my theory is (in part 1) when Louis told her how much she admires her and swears her allegiance to Eren because of Mikasa, Mikasa got a headache and remembered Eren saving her from the kidnappers. I thought it made her realize that Louis was on the same path as her. Its similar to the scene of Mikasa saving Louis, which was also shown in the same episode. Could be that the show was making a parallel between the two scenes.

Adam Adamowicz

Yup, literally first thing she does after coming back to life is stuff her face full of pie and eat it like an angry hamster. Hilarious :D

Interesting, I didn't think of it like that. My take is, Mikasa is so cold towards Louise, not because Louise admires her but because of wHY Louise admires her, and the "message" Louise got from Mikasa saving her back in the day. Because that message was "you have to become powerful if you want to crush your enemy". And now, as Mikasa is horrified by what Eren is doing, Louise basically says to her " I am a full on board Jaegerist because of you", Mikasa can't bear the thought that that's what she inspired in Louise. Also, I think she takes the scarf back because Louise doesn't get what it represents: for Louise, it's a symbol of Eren saving Mikasa through violence, but what it really is for Mikasa is a symbol of Eren saving her through kindness, by getting her warm, giving her a new home and showing her that there is still beauty in this cruel world.

I don't know if you guys picked up on that, but Levi lost the fingers he had on the triggers of his ODM gear blade. The explosion probably yanked the blade from his hand and took off his fingers with it.

Some thoughts I had listening to your discussion regarding the Connie’s mom part: - about Anna’s thoughts on the rooftop conversation, “what if there was a possibility to save, say Levi instead of Connie’s mom” : well they kinda did have that conversation, when Jean’s brings up saving Pixis. So based on the whole interaction, my take is that Mikasa is just shocked at the idea of sacrificing a child, Jean is just thinking strategically , and Armin is both shocked at the idea AND thinking of the strategic value of Falco. And then Armin only use the strategic part in his argument in favor of Faco; I think it works with Jean, who thinks with his mind, but not with Connie, who thinks with his heart, or not thinking at all at this moment, which lead me to - about Connie contradicting himself when he says to Armin ‘if you thought about it for one second, you’d know she’d hate it”: I think he was speaking to himself as well, maybe even more so than to Armin. - about Armin’s “what would Erwin do” moment: my take is the conclusion he draws is not “actions speak louder than words” but: 1. making a huge gamble. 2. being ready to give up his life if his gamble doesn’t pay off: “those who can’t give up everything can’t achieve anything”.

In the manga they kind of show Levi using his blade to shield his body from the blast. His fingers would have been exposed to the blast in the trigger guards. https://cdn.readdetectiveconan.com/file/mangap/5/10114000/43.jpg
