Honestly, Maki and Ishigami is the one friendship in the series that I really find myself thinking would have romantic potential. Just like he said himself when they met, they both have the tendency to be too honest for their own good, attracting misery, and their interactions are always weirdly sweet despite them both throwing jabs at one another. I think it's perfectly fine for them to be friends, but I'm really curious in what could've been.

Kashiwagi's POV on Ishigami is kind of skipped over in the anime. She hasn't had a direct conversation with Ishigami and she's heard all about the rumors of his middle school incident. It's more of a visual of her thinking that Ishigami was "tainting" her friend/bf. Then they both said "oh yeah he helps me out a lot!" and she did the 180 and asked him to be friends. It's better explained in the manga, but the anime doesn't address this at all.
