So in the manga at Gyomei's backstory chapter, there was a note included that had Sayo' perspective. In her state of shock, Sayo exclaimed: "That man is a monster! He... killed everyone!", referring to the demon that infiltrated the temple. However, with the demon's remains disintegrated by the morning sun and only the children's lifeless bodies remaining, the villagers misunderstood Sayo's words and wrongly attributed the murders to Gyomei. Sayo, still traumatized by the incident, struggled to articulate herself properly and failed to dispel the suspicions that had befallen Gyomei, causing him to be unjustly imprisoned and charged with the heinous crime of killing the eight children. It was only through the intervention of Kagaya Ubuyashiki that Gyomei was released before facing execution for crimes he did not commit.[2][1] The weight of guilt rested heavily upon Sayo's shoulders, burdening her soul with the memory of Gyomei's wrongful arrest. Even as a decade has passed, time's passage did little to ease the ache within her heart. She longed for the opportunity to seek forgiveness and offer her heartfelt apology to the one who had selflessly protected her.

Gyomei follows the practice of living things should not be harmed (or at least did) as part of his religion. To break that vow, even to defend another, is a tremendous thing to do. Zenitsu bully theory. Very interesting thought process Ben. Very interesting... Also, I think Sanemi was just that skilled to sense that faint presence and grab it before it could scurry off. Or it could be that she was able to learn that all the Hashira were far enough away that Muzan could enter unchecked, so she did relax a bit. Now Sanemi can raise the alarm. Lastly, Kagaya's mansion is covered in Wisteria. We've seen what a little amount can do to a demon through Shinobu and I'd wager all demons would feel the effects at some level. That mist coming off Muzan perhaps is a manifestation of Wistera, showing us that he is literally being poisoned constantly and walking like it doesn't even bother him. Or it can be a literal "he is actively burning from Wisteria but regenerating so incredibly fast" So excited to see your reactions to next episode! An hour long premiere!

The imagery of the Buddhist vajra, the warrior monk that purifies evil even at the cost of the flesh. I love how Gyomei character is done
