He would have regretted it either way unfortunately. If he doesn't go, Paul lives but Zenith is still trapped for god knows how much longer and Roxy dies from being trapped in the dungeon. Unfortunately Hitogami seems like the gloating type, so he will probably rub it in to make Rudy more subservient to him.

They had to cremate Paul because bodies left within a dungeon become undead, they even had to crush his burnt skeleton ashes as undead skeleton knights are also a thing.

Paul really loved his wife, but even so he did a very fatherly thing at the end and got to save his son. Some Notes: Rudeus didn't space out, when the Hydra's second head was cut off it changed it's pattern. It started using it's stumps to attack Rudy and started targetting him with it's main head as well. Due to all the attacks Rudy couldn't react fast enough because though he may have the eye and be a strong mage. He's a fragile slow human being. What made Rudy Go God of War mode, and I mean I only realized this during your reaction... was that the Hydra "Crunched" his father while beside him. It took forever for me to connect that dot... the hydra literally bites down, you hear a sickening crunch, and suddenly Rudy says "screw it all" puts his hand through the hydra's eye and uses his favorite spell. And Last but not least, that look on Rudy's face was realization that what he saved wasn't his mother, it was a husk of his mother. Maybe she would be better off dead? Maybe this was all for naught. ~~~~~~~ Side note, I dont understand twhy they didn't go back, get more fighters and attack the hydra in force, like a squad of 30+ would make short work of the hydra.

Geese's is first seen asking for help and failing, and it's easy to assume that had been going on for a while. My guess is no one else was willing to attempt the teleporter labyrinth with them
